DELAWARE COUNTY, PA – As progress is made with the Phase 1A vaccination in Delaware County, officials have set out who will be included in the next phase. However, it is unclear when vaccinations will begin for the next phase.
Officials on Friday outlined who will be included in the next phase, 1B, including a new population.
Below are those who will be preferred to vaccine in phase 1B:
- child care staff
- correction staff
- provincial and municipal administration staff
- educators and teaching staff
- firefighters
- food and agricultural staff
- grocery store staff
- law enforcement
- manufacturing staff
- transport staff
- U.S. Postal Service Staff
New in phase 1B are residents aged 65 and older.
Phase 1B includes people living or working in Delaware County.
“Although we do not have the definitive time to move on to Phase 1B, we are eager to move on to Phase 1 once we confirm that Phase 1A is good enough, and our vaccine supply is not limited,” officials said Friday. “Phase 1B groups are encouraged to inform their workers about the importance of receiving the vaccine.”
Residents and organizations are encouraged to complete the Phase 1B vaccine interest survey to indicate that you would like to receive the vaccine. Embedded information will be shared with the vaccination team, who will send communications about the registration for the appointment of vaccines as the vaccine and the time period become available.
The county administers vaccinations to people living or working in Delaware County who are in the first phase 1A group. This group includes health workers, EMS employees, residents and staff of long-term care facilities, and medical examiners and funeral staff.
Due to the limited supply of the vaccine, healthcare workers, EMS staff, long-term care facilities, medical examiners and funeral staff are the priority for the distribution of vaccinations.
On January 15, 13,336 vaccines were administered in the country, which is a similar percentage compared to neighboring provinces.
Non-affiliated healthcare providers should also consult information on local healthcare systems
the vaccine becomes available in those places as places in their health system open up.
Officials are preparing to open the Delaware County Wellness Center in Yeadon later this month, which will serve as a storage and vaccination center. Two other sites are considered vaccination sites.
The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are the only vaccines administered in the United States, and both vaccines require two doses for full efficacy. A second shot is given three weeks after the first shot to provide the most protection.
