Chris Hemsworth has turned Australia’s once-sleepy beach town of Byron Bay into the new Hollywood – at least that’s how residents feel about it … and they’re pissed.
A new report from news.com.au details about the contempt that Byron Bay residents have long had for the Hemsworths – especially Chris, who made the area his permanent home – because he draws more and more celebrities and the baggage that goes with it.
Apart from Chris, there are also other celebrities who sometimes live in the city and / or rent or own houses Zac Efron, Mark Wahlberg, Natalie Portman, Matt Damon, Olivia Newton-John, Nicole Kidman, Jack Johnson, Melissa McCarthy – to name just a few. And let’s not start with the stars who visit early and often … who run the spectrum of rich and famous.

Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fischer late swung, and also Aussie stars like Sam Burgess, Katie Richie, Michelle Bridges. It has become a who-and-who-type place – which infuriates many ordinary residents … because the atmosphere of their once peaceful city is now flooded with limousines, tourists, paparazzi, rising house prices and commercialism like never before not.
One person described being kicked out of their house because their housewife wanted to turn the cot into an Airbnb – which is indicative of what many Byron Bay residents say … they are praised and from a town they know as home .

Ironically, the news.com.au article portrays Chris Hemsworth – of which the fortress of an estate has apparently become a beacon for navigation – as a man who is not so much of the people. He is rarely spotted in the city and keeps his family and affairs private.
Locals say it’s rich that he wants seclusion, since he invited the exact opposite in their lives … by putting it on the map in the worst ways.
