Residents happy, visitors know of the closure of Miami Beach amid chaos in Spring Break

MIAMI STRAND, Fla. Several roads leading to South Beach have been closed in an effort to stem the rise of crime and misconduct during Spring Break.

Miami Beach City manager Raul Aguila announced the grand closing on Saturday afternoon.

It has the next three nights, Saturday to Monday, from 21:00 to 06:00 eastbound traffic

There are special exceptions for Miami Beach residents, hotel guests and people who go to work.

“In an effort to reduce the crowds coming to the city, we are closing the MacArthur Highway, Venetian Street and Julia Tuttle Street,” Aguila said.

To sum it up, you can leave Miami Beach after 9pm that night, but you can not come back; not easy.

“It’s not an easy decision to make,” Aguila said.

Visitors told Saira Anwer, Local 10 News, that after witnessing the weekend’s chaos and debauchery, they understand why this decision was made, but it puts a damper on their journey.

On the other hand, residents of Miami Beach said they were happy about the closure of the highway

“You want rest and rest, you spend a lot of money living in a certain area and you do not want people to just drive up and down the street,” said Tom Bronco, a resident of Miami. . “I think it’s a great idea.”
