As with Resident Evil 7 before that, Capcom fans gave a brief, intense look at Resident Evil Village in the form of a standalone demo. The demo, called ‘Maiden’, is now available in the PlayStation Network store for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It’s not quite as enigmatic as the demo for RE7, but it’s certainly possible to hang up and share important clues. miss what will show you. the way to work through this short, terrifying piece of castle. This is where we can help. If you are struggling to complete it, do not struggle anymore!
Below you will find a quick, spoiler-free breakthrough that will guide you through the demo and help you if you get stuck. We will not spoil any scare or story elements, although we will highlight a few notes that may give you a little extra insight into what is going on. You can also watch the video below for a full run of the entire demo.
The dungeon
After waking up, you find yourself in a dark pit. Look to one side to find a crumpled note in the wall. As you read this, it offers several clues you need to escape from the pit, but these are slightly blunt. First you have to get out of the cell – bend and look under your wooden bed for a hole through which you can crawl.
Once you are out, you are free to explore. There are several other cells, mostly filled with various tortures. You will see two of them are chained with hanging, half devoured bodies inside. Follow the traces of blood through the pit, then you should see a woman’s body fall into another cell. With the doors chained, you can do nothing more here.
Follow the corridor to a door that is at the end. You will not be able to open it, and here you may be a little confused about what to do next. Look for a metal box on a stand to the left of the door, in front of it. The box is locked, but check it out – you should hear a sound back as you came. You need to communicate with the box to find your next clue.

Follow the sound back through the pit to the cell with the dead woman. You will find her in a new position with a set of bolt cutters protruding from her back. Grab it and cut the chains off the nearby cell to get into it. Look for a bucket full of blood here. Interact with it and you will find the item you need to move on: a lock button. Use it on the metal box at the end of the passage to leave the well.
The basement
You are in a strange, ornate room next door. If you remember, the letter you read would suggest that you will soon find a closed door and that you should follow the light to move forward.
Keep moving through the hallways and up a ladder until you reach a round room with a walkway and a table. Look closely and you will see that a hand protrudes weakly from the barrel. You can not leave this room at the door, but if you walk around the table, you will find the doors to a wooden cabinet slightly cracked, with light slipping through from the other side. Open them to reveal another hole through which you can crawl.

The note now mentions that you have to hit a dead end and find a secret that you can promote. As you move into the next room, you hit the cul-de-sac. Dive into the built-in fireplace, where a few candles are burning, to find a brick you can push, and then turn on. This will reveal a hole in the wall that you can progress through.
Look left through the hole to find a note that provides some context for what is going on. Written by a maid, it describes the work for someone who maliciously attacks her maids if they make any kind of mistakes. Being carried to the basement sounds like what could have happened to the character you are playing.
Take the ladder from here and push through another hole in the wall to reach the next area.
The castle

Now you will find a lavishly decorated, actually clean room. Pick up the chain (made of bone) on the table. Exit through the door and follow the corridor to a large foyer. You will find a door in this hallway with a bust in it, which is short of an eye. Report that information for later and go below. Look in the fireplace for another idea of who you can play in this particular demo.

Two of the doors here are locked, but the one to the left of the fireplace can be opened. Look at the side dishes right before it for another note, with the names of potential candidates – for what we do not know, however.
Through the door you will find a room with an open window and another large, closed door. At the window you see a snowy courtyard with torches. Then look at one of the wine glasses on the table in front of the door to discover a ring with a maroon eye in it. Open your stock and examine the ring more closely to remove the eye.

As you may have guessed, it will unlock the door with the bust facing up, so return to the foyer and go there now. Open the door and find another note about a specific vintage wine made by the Dimitrescus, the family that owns the castle.
You can open several of the cupboard doors near the floor. The cabinet holds to the right of the note over the wine a key to the courtyard, which sounds like the closed door you found in the room with the window open. Return and use the key to unlock the door to activate the end of the demo.
