Representatives of universities abandon meeting with the president of the UPR

The Caucus of Claustral Representatives of the Junta Universitaria de la Universidad de Puerto Rico (UPR) laat vaar – hoy, miercoles, una reunion que tenía pautada con el presidente de institutioni, Jorge Haddock, as a form of protest to the concession of a square with the rank of cathedral which is the court of this.

“We will abandon the meeting in protest of the decision taken by the UPR’s Junta de Gobierno to concede a seat with the chairmanship of President Jorge Haddock because it is an illegal and anti-regulatory act,” said Colón, mediating a telephone interview.

“The Junta de Gobierno does not have the power to obtain any plaza or claustral rank,” he said.

At the end of my term, the body of the rector of the institution approved a Haddock cathedral square and he added to the contractual responsibility that tenants had in part, when the president was confirmed in office in 2018, a clause called the establishment reward with the place and permanence of years or more in the presidential hall.

In agreement with Colón, the rules of the institution are established that in order to fill a vacant space, a public convocation must be opened and interested persons must apply by including a card that includes curriculum vitae y its credentials, and the staff committee in the department with the vacancy evaluates the candidates to decide who to recruit.

“Everything is done on this occasion by the President. The Junta de Gobierno has the power that it does not have to take all the regulatory and concluding steps and is unfair and discriminatory,” said the professor.
