Bethesda Softworks’ The Elder Scrolls franchise can make a decent claim that it is the largest RPG series in the world. Despite the last full delivery, the successful Skyrim, which was released in 2011, it has remained very popular. In part this is because the above game has been brought to the sun to virtually every platform, but spinoffs like MMO The Elder Scrolls Online and mobile title The Elder Scrolls: Blades also helped keep the franchise in the spotlight.
We know it The Elder Scrolls VI is currently in development, although nothing is known of what it will consist of and all we have seen is a short preview that actually only confirmed that the title exists. It may take a while before we learn more about it, but in the meantime there’s a new rumor this week reported by insider Daniel Richtman who says Netflix is working on a program based on The Elder Scrolls, and that it will be just as big as they go The Witcher.
One interesting pick with this is that Bethesda Softworks is already developing a major TV series adaptation of one of their games with Netflix’s main competitor. Earlier this year, they announced that the Westworld team worked Dropout, which will hit Amazon Prime sometime in the future.
In any case, it will be interesting to see when and where it is set up. The Elder Scrollsthe world of Tamriel is a great place with a lot of history and hundreds of years pass between titles. Because of the games that deal with player freedom, there is also no memorable character like Geralt van The Witcher to focus on. Yet I can easily see a show that explores cool elements like the Dark Brotherhood Assassination Bureau or the Thieves Guild. On top of that, it would be nice to get the Daedric Princes, especially the ever entertaining Sheogorath.
Maybe it can also be linked directly in the following Elder role games. After all, it would be neat to watch a prequel show that sets the world apart before we go exploring every inch of it ourselves.
