Report: Steelers, Roethlisberger Now involved in ‘Really Big Game of Chicken’; No consensus on the team to do

What will happen between the Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in the next three weeks? While no one really knows for sure right now, there is certainly no shortage of speculation about what could happen, and especially on the heels of what all Colers general manager of Steelers, Kevin Colbert, did and did not say about Roethlisberger’s potential future status with the team. he spoke to the media for almost 30 minutes last week. In fact, it seems that one national member of the media interprets the current situation between the Steelers and Roethlisberger as a big game of chicken. The one person is Aditi Kinkhabwala of the NFL Network.

“It’s actually going to be a very big chicken meat here in Pittsburgh, where Steelers Ben Roethlisberger almost dares to say anything back,” Kinkhabwala said Monday during an NFL Network section about Roethlisberger. ‘And Ben Roethlisberger has already said what he wants to say, is that he wants to come back and play for the Steelers. That he is willing to work with the Steelers to improve the $ 41 million cap. That he would indeed pay for the $ 19 million he owed. He’s not going to look for any kind of raise. And now it’s Steelers’ turn. ”

Personally, I think it’s all pig water. A game of chicken? Really? That’s my opinion. It seems so too dramatic at the moment, but it’s just me. Call me crazy.

However, Kinkhabwala did not stop there.

“The Steelers are not even about what to do,” Kinkhabwala continued. ‘I think there’s a very, very strong feeling in the building that it’s time to move on and that while the Steelers still have Ben Roethlisberger, there’s a bit of limbo. Because even though there is a new attacking coordinator and there is a new coach of the quarter, Ben Roethlisberger wants to play in a specific way and that does not necessarily include all the shifts and movements that the new attacking coordinator Matt Canada would like to include. ”

Strong feeling in the building? The only people in the Steelers building that matter are team president Art Rooney II, general manager Kevin Colbert and Mike Tomlin, head coach. No, quarterback Mason Rudolph does not count as a person in the building.

So why, perhaps, have the two parties not yet reached an agreement on what the future of Roethlisberger is? Maybe it’s because there have been no real heated conversations between the two sides yet. In fact, Kinkhabwala even admitted so much on Monday afternoon. Is this a big problem? Personally, I do not think so. After all, there are still more than three weeks left before a decision has to be made. The NFL still has not set a cap number for 2021.

How will things eventually play out? I think just like most of you have yours. Despite all that has been said or not said during the off-season, my best prediction remains that Roethlisberger will play for the Steelers in 2021 and still receive the $ 19 million he still has to do, albeit via an extension which includes invalid years. Could my guts be wrong? Sure, it can.

I have no skin in the Roethlisberger game. If he is not back in 2021, I will still cover the team in the same way as since 2008. If he returns for the 2021 season, I will do the same. in conclusion, I feel that all these ‘talks’ and ‘reporting’ are currently being produced a lot to better sell a story. I just can not buy now that the negotiations between the Steelers and Roethlisberger have now reached the same level as a chicken to see who falls back first. And I apologize in advance to whomever I may be offended by this opinion.
