The Rams finish with one quarter from the NFC North. They first tried to get another one.
Sam Farmer of the LA Times reports that the Rams run at Packers fullback Aaron Rodgers. According to Farmer, the Packers were determined not to trade with Rodgers. Farmer did not specify the Rams’ offer for Rodgers – if it had even reached that point.
The Packers have made it clear in public that they do not want to trade with Rodgers. After Rodgers unconditionally suggested last week that his future with the Packers was uncertain, Rodgers tried a few days later to put most toothpaste back in the tube.
While it is clear that the Packers want Rodgers for 2021 and that Rodgers wants to stay, Rodgers also wants clarity on his status, in the form of a contractual commitment that clearly binds the player and team together for two or three years, if no longer.
Whether Rodgers gets that commitment and the ensuing clarity is, as Rodgers would call it, a beautiful mystery.
