Report: New Nintendo Switch model with larger OLED screen, 4K output planned

Bloomberg on Wednesday published a report with new details about the newly rumored new, more powerful Nintendo Switch model, which is called by fans and gamers the Nintendo Switch Pro. The outlet first reported on the upgraded model of the Nintendo Switch in 2020, although reports have been circulating for years.

According to the report, Samsung will soon start producing “7-inch, 720p resolution OLED panels” for the device. The new Nintendo Switch model also features “4K ultra-high-definition graphics when paired with TVs,” Bloomberg sources said. Nintendo and Samsung declined to comment on Bloomberg’s report.

Nintendo has repeatedly denied the existence of the so-called Nintendo Switch Pro. Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser told Polygon in December that the company “always” looks at how Nintendo “can improve the gaming experience”, whether on the “current platform” or “a future platform”. Bowser also told Polygon that the Nintendo Switch is at the center of this life cycle

In February, during a financial call, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said Nintendo would do it not announce an upgraded Nintendo Switch model “soon”.

But Nintendo’s history includes many upgraded models of existing platforms – such as the New Nintendo 3DS XL. The company also has a bunch of games appearing on its platform this year, many of which were announced during a Nintendo Direct in February. Although there has been no update on the upcoming Nintendo Breath of nature continued, there is many games on the way.
