The bears rented it the former Packers defense coordinator as senior defense assistant, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. He will serve as an experienced sounding board for new defense coordinator Sean Desai.
Pettine was the Green Bay defense coordinator from 2018-2020, and head coach Matt LaFleur’s arrival by a year. Pettine’s contract expired at the end of the 2020 season and has not been renewed.
