Report: Detroit Lions Hire Mark DeLeone as LB Coach

The Detroit Lions added another coach to their staff. As first reported by ESPN’s Field Yates, hires Lions Mark DeLeone coach of the Chicago Bears.

DeLeone has spent the past two seasons with Chicago, followed by Matt Nagy, who he coached with Kansas City for many years. He started at the University of Iowa as a defense assistant. In 2012, he got his first break in the NFL as the Jets defense assistant.

He has been the coach of the lineout player since 2016 and helps players like Roquan Smith to grow his career. In Kansas City, he also worked with Lions director Reggie Ragland, who will become a free agent in March.

DeLeone apparently decided to move from Chicago after defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano retired and Bears coach Sean Desai announced he was replacing Pagano. DeLeone is not currently listed on the Bears coaching staff on their official website.

In addition to DeLeone, the Lions have officially announced Anthony Lynn as their next offensive coordinator, as previously reported. Also Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press is reporting that coach Ben Johnson is retained by the Lions.

So their coaching staff now officially looks like that.
