Republican Republican Chip Roy of Texas asks House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to intervene and force President Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to apologize for tweeting that Senator Ted Cruz ‘almost killed me ‘during the riot in the Capitol.
Roy wrote to Pelosi (D-California) on Thursday that the 31-year-old Democrat, who represents parts of the Bronx and Queens, should say she is sorry.
‘[S]he is accusing Senator Ted Cruz of essentially attempted murder, ”Roy wrote.
As a member of this body who does not agree with ‘objections’ to the electorate and who has publicly expressed my concern about the events up to 6 January, it is completely unacceptable for a member of Congress to be this kind of fickle indictment against another Member of the House or Senate for merely participating in the speech and debate on voters when interpreting the Constitution. ”
Roy continued, ‘I urge you to apologize immediately and withdraw her comments. If Representative Ocasio-Cortez does not immediately apologize, we will be forced to find alternative ways of condemning this deplorable statement. ”
Spokesmen for Ocasio-Cortez, commonly known as AOC, and for Pelosi did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The acclaimed ‘Democratic Socialist’ accused Cruz of being responsible for the violence that disrupted the certification of President Biden’s victory because the Texan objected to voters in Arizona, citing federal court rulings that set a deadline for extended the registration of voters and insisted on a national audit of voter fraud.
She tweeted to Cruz on Thursday after offering an alliance branch of the alliance against a possible fight against the government against small-dollar investors waging war on hedge funds by buying GameStop shares.
AOC written“I would like to work with the Republicans on this issue where there is a common issue, but you had me killed almost 3 weeks ago so you can evict this one. I’m happy to work with almost any other GOP that is not trying to kill me. If you want to help in the meantime, thank you. ‘
Roy did not specify how Republicans can condemn AOC if she is not sorry.
Roy is known for being an independent and outspoken Republican. He ignored Pelosi’s new metal detectors outside the living room, and said, “I will not do it.” He also slammed former President Donald Trump for his speech before the January 6 riots, saying he “deserves universal condemnation for clearly what I believe was impeccable behavior.” But Roy opposed an article of accusation as written and did not join 10 Republicans of the House who voted against Trump.
