Elise Stefanik, RN.Y., told Hannity on Thursday that the count of coronavirus deaths among New York City nursing home residents was “a massive corruption scandal at the highest level.”
State Department of Health commissioner Howard Zucker confirmed earlier Thursday that at least 12,743 long-term residents died of COVID-19 on January 19 this year, more than 4,200 more than the official version on that day.
State Attorney General Letitia James accused in a report released earlier that the death toll in the nursing home could be down by about 50%. Zucker’s figure confirmed for the first time 3829 deaths of COVID-19 among residents of nursing homes transported to hospitals.
REP. ELISE STEFANIK, RN.Y .: We know that the March edict instituted by the governor … forced nursing homes to take positive COVID patients, endangering our most vulnerable voters in the state of New York.
There were lawyers who lost loved ones, who asked for answers, accountability and transparency. And at every turn, the governor and his chiefs of staff smeared those individuals. One of the most important and effective advocates is [FOX News senior meteorologist] Janice Dean, and they belittled her every day and by calling these family advocates part of a death cult.

Finally, today is the first step towards justice. We need to get answers and immediately issue summonses against the governor, the commissioner of health in the state of New York, dr. Zucker, and his senior staff, because corruption is the cover-up. They knew this number and yet they refused to be transparent with New Yorkers. But what was most heartless is [not] to be transparent with those who have lost loved ones.
…
The way to get answers is to issue subpoenas. Both Democrats and Republicans in the state Senate and state assembly are finally coming together to issue subpoenas. We must also continue the independent investigation at the federal level … These families deserve accountability and we must ensure that this never happens again.
