“One of the images I haunt is the black conservationists clearing up the mess left by the violent white supremacist crowd,” the Massachusetts Democrat told Jake Tapper on CNN ‘State of the Union’ on Sunday, reflecting on her experience on Capitol Hill during the deadly siege on January 6th.

“This is a metaphor for America. We have been cleaning up for generations after violent, white supremacist crowds and it must end.”

Pressley told Tapper that it would take such a “disturbing and traumatic” event for many Americans to begin recognizing the threat of White supremacy.
The congresswoman’s comments come as the Senate is ready this week to hear arguments in Trump’s indictment, where the chamber will consider whether he is guilty or acquitted on a single charge of ‘incitement to rebellion’. While the former president is expected to be acquitted for the second time, Pressley has called on her colleagues in Congress to hold Trump accountable.

“If we really believe that this is a moment of reckoning in all respects, we must act accordingly, and that means Donald J. Trump must be held accountable because he is guilty of inciting this uprising by this ‘big lie’. “to perpetuate.” She said, citing Trump’s false allegations of widespread voter fraud and that his election had been stolen.

“This House has done its job twice. He will forever be the twice accused president by this Democratic majority-led House,” she continued.

But it’s not just a matter of accusation or the security of the Capitol, the congresswoman said.

“For those who continue to marvel at what happened on January 6. “I want us to do everything we can to ensure that a transgression never occurs at the Capitol, but I want us to address the evil and plague that is white rule in this country.
