Reigning Mrs World resigns weeks after controversy over competition

The ruling Mrs World, Caroline Jurie, resigned her title, the organization that led the competition said late Tuesday, weeks after she was involved in a controversy during the madam in Sri Lanka.

Jurie was arrested and released on bail this month after a fracas at the Sri Lanka match in Colombo, where Jurie forcibly removed the winner’s crown, claiming that the other woman was a divorced woman and was incapable of title to conquer. read more

“Her voluntary resignation decision was made only by Caroline herself,” Ms. World Inc said in a news release on social media late Tuesday.

Jury was not immediately available for comment.

Kate Schneider of Ireland, the runner-up of the 2020 match that Jurie won, will be the new Mrs World 2020, the organization said.

The organization said it was a local matter for the organizers of the country’s competition to review and that it would have no bearing on the Mrs World 2021 match which Sri Lanka will host this year.

Jury was arrested when she visited a police station to record her statement.

The winner of the Mrs Sri Lanka match will take part in the Mrs World match. Jury won the Mrs Sri Lanka crown in 2019 and won the Mrs World crown in Las Vegas in 2020.
