CENTRAL POINT, Ore – The final details for an entry-level coronavirus entry clinic in Jackson County were released Monday, which is eligible for “Phase 1a” members to sign up and get the necessary paperwork.
The drive-in event is still planned for January 21, 22 and 23 at the Jackson County Expo, and it is expected that several dozen members of the National Guard will be on hand to assist with all aspects of the initiative – from logistics to the administration. of the vaccines.

As the federal government no longer expects the doses of vaccines, the upcoming opportunity will not be expanded to include educators and the elderly. Qualifying members of Phase 1a – including health workers, first responders, both residents and staff of long-term care facilities – are strongly encouraged to visit the Asante website and have the paperwork prepared in advance.

When the event starts, people will drive to a checkpoint to have their paperwork examined and they will be asked to verbally verify that they are in phase 1a. They will be vaccinated while still in their vehicles, and then brought to a waiting area for observation over a period of 15 minutes or longer to ensure that there are no serious allergic reactions.
Participants will receive a form indicating that they have received the first dose, along with details on how to receive a second dose in the coming weeks.
The Jackson County Clinic will be open Jan. 21, 22 and 23 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A second similar event is planned for January 24 and 25 in Josephine County, and you can register on the same Asante page. Officials hope to carry out 3,000 vaccinations on this occasion. Unlike the Jackson County Clinic, this one will be open to educators from before the K to 12th grade and other school staff.
Both Jackson and Josephine County drive-ins are equipped with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, which requires ultra-cold storage. Nickerson said Asante staff are now well accustomed to the vaccine storage and thawing process, and that they will be able to prepare sufficient doses for use as needed.
There are about 20,000 people in Phase 1a in Jackson County, public health officials said, and more than 7,000 in Josephine County.
Governor Kate Brown last week announced the adjusted timeline for expanding vaccinations outside Phase 1a. Vaccinations will be made available to educators throughout the state from January 25. Seniors will be eligible from February 8, starting with those over 80.
