Regé-Jean Page explains why he is leaving Bridgerton

“It felt like a limited series.”

What will Bridgerton without Regé-Jean Page? The actor told Variety that he will not be returning for Bridgerton’s second season because he only signed up for the first time.

“It’s a one-season arc,” he explained as the show’s producers showed him the role. “It’s going to have a beginning, middle, end – give us a year.”

Page said he is interested in this setup because it feels like a limited series to him.

“I have to come in, I’ll make my contribution and then the Bridgerton family will continue,” he said.

Although fans will be sad to see him go, Page explained that the audience knows the arc is complete. They know it so you can tie people in emotional knots because they have the assurance that we are going to get out and that we are going to have the marriage and the baby.

Bridgerton, based on a series of romance novels, will focus on Anthony Bridgerton’s life in season two.

Fans reading the novels may have expected Page’s expectation because the series is based on the books. But for some viewers who have never read Julia Quinn’s novels, they certainly expected Page to stay on the show, especially since he had a baby with Daphne at the end of the first season.

Page, however, says he’s excited about what’s going to happen next, as he has a few other projects underway.

‘I have nothing but excitement Bridgerton continue with steam train and conquer the world, ”he said. “But there is also value in completing these bows and landing fast.”

Page had such a strong presence in the series that it would be hard not to miss him. But at least we’ll see where the rest of the Bridgerton family ends up in season two.
