Reduce 50% tourist intake

The influx of Dominican passengers and tourists by international airports is reduced by more than 50% in the first two months of this year compared to the previous period of 2020 as a result of the crisis provoked by Covid-19 in commercial aviation, tourism and the economy.

According to the Civil Aviation Union (JAC) data, by 2020, 640,629 passengers will be enrolled in Dominican international airports and will have 705 061 passengers during this same period.

In February 2020, 719,550 passengers will enter Las Americas and Gregorio Luperón, Puerto Plata, and other airport terminals, with 756,181 passengers on board.

During the previous period, during this year, a drastic period was recorded in the influx of national and foreign travelers to the country.

The statistics of Aerodom indicate that for international airports the number of passengers descended in this year is 51.1% compared to the previous period of 2020.

In 2020, by Las Américas, Gregorio Luperón, Joaquín Balaguer of El Higu¨ero and Professor Juan Bosch, of Samaná, 587, 889 passengers are moving, while in this year alone there are only 287,728 passengers.

This represents a reduction of more than 51.1% in airway traffic attributable to Covid-19 coronavirus effects.
