The Mayor of Santo Domingo Este (ASDE), in coordination with the Amaury Germán Aristy Foundation, commemorates the 49th anniversary of the Los Palmeros group, which took place on the 12th of January 1972 in the 14th kilometer of the Las Americas Avenue.
Qualified as one of the most successful successes during the 12 years of governor Joaquín Balaguer’s governor.
The act, performed in the monument erected in honor of Los Palmeros, in the same place of the high ones, was initiated by the enthronement of the National Anthem, followed by a minute of silence in memory of José Laburán López and María Paula Acevedo (Chichita) , death of Coronel Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deñó.
“These young people are being chased by a more just society, by the existence of a society where all must be biennial, liberated and progressive, and by that, we have the records, we pay tribute to the people who are great magnanimous and merciful,” he said. of SDE, Manuel Jiménez.
Jiménez approves the occasion to interpret the song “No hay rendition”, accompanied by the choir of ASDE and a theatrical composition protagonized by artists of the Cultural Directorate, conducted by the theater director Ruth Emeterio.
Jiménez indicates that the foundation will be working to preserve the memory of Los Palmeros, because the monument was built in this place to house the assignments and disappearances of the young people during the period 1966-1978.

A bit of history
Each 12 years celebrates in the country the Day of the Heroic Resistance, commemorating the enlistment of the four young men against the police and military sciences in 1972.
All started as members of the intelligence service located at Amaury Germán Aristy, leader of Los Palmeros; to Virgilio Perdomo Pérez, Ulises Cerón Polanco and Bienvenido Leal Prandy (La Chuta), in a 14-kilometer-long cave in the middle of the Las Américas motorway, where redheads were driving.

The official firefighters were led by Generals Neit Nivar Seijas and Ramón Emilio Jiménez, Chiefs of Police and Armored Forces, during this period.
