Maine (WABI) – The number of newly recorded coronavirus cases in Maine is doubling.
After a few days of new business in the 300s, the Maine CDC report on Wednesday showed 706 new businesses.
There are also 11 new deaths to report – 4 come from Penobscot County, 5 from Cumberland County and one each from the counties of Kennebec and York.
The total death toll in Maine now stands at 530.
The total number of cases since the pandemic began is 34,963, with 28,523 confirmed, according to the Maine CDC.
There are 68 COVID-19 patients in critical care, of whom 27 are in ventilators.
Cumberland County is now breaking the ten thousand mark for newly recorded cases. 168 new ones there, this is the highest total in the state.
123 in York County, 99 in Androscoggin County.
There are 88 new businesses in Penobscot County, 42 in Kennebec and 20 in Somerset.
18 new cases are reported in Aroostook County.
Single figures are reported in the provinces of Waldo and Piscataquis.
