Fstate prosecutors announced Thursday that Karim Benzema will stand trial for his alleged involvement in the Mathieu Valbuena scandal of 2015.
Two men allegedly have a sex tape of Valbuena and try to blackmail him. They apparently managed to make contact Benzema and it is believed that the football player spoke Valbuena about it during a championship of France’s national team.
“The decision to execute it is absurd and unfair,” the player’s lawyer said. Sylvain Cormier, told EFE.
“Benzema has nothing to blame for. ‘
Back in November 2015, Benzema spent a night in police custody in Versalles.
“I think it’s a big misunderstanding,” Benzema said at the time and claimed he was trying to help his international teammate.
In the last few years, and as a result of this incident, Benzema was not called up for France’s service.
