Razer’s proposed project Hazel is face mask for gamers

Many manufacturers try to make face masks fashionable. The iconic developer of the game hardware Razer has something else in mind.

While the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic continues worldwide, many manufacturers have jumped into the face mask game and created unique and stylish masks to keep people safe. One of the strangest innovations was Razer Hazel Project, a high-tech face mask designed for gamers. The project was recently launched at CES, but whether Hazel can become a reality, let alone what it will cost and when it will be available, has not yet been announced.

Although the term gamer mask can give you a break, you can be assured that the mask portion is the most important. Hazel features a surgical N95 respirator with high fluid resistance, active ventilation of up to 95 percent of the air particles and a special case with UV lights that can kill any bacteria or viruses when charging. How long these fans can last at purchase is unclear and is still being tested by Razer. The mask is also transparent, unlike most other masks; not only does it offer a wider range of expressions, but it also offers accessibility options for those who need to communicate via lip-reading.

However, it is still aimed at gamers, so it has some quirks. For starters, the overall design is a sleek, waterproof plastic shell with a distinctive style, not unlike Razer’s range of hardware and computers. The mask has RGB LEDs that can change color with the same technology that Razer uses on their gaming peripherals. Hazel will also include a built-in voice amplifier so you can be heard loud and clear without being muted. Despite all the advanced technology applied in this mask, Razer said it is comfortable to wear. The seals around the nose and chin are made of a silicone protector, and the earmuffs are adjustable to find the right fit.

Razer is a technology company specializing in the design and development of game-related hardware and accessories. Many of their products include laptops, tablets and towers, as well as peripherals such as mice, keyboards and audio devices. While many quickly call it a joke product, we should not forget that strange game products have been released that really turn out to be real, including the recent KFConsole from KFC, an actual PC that has a hot room for you fried. chicken.

Of course, Hazel’s timing could be the biggest downside to that. As vaccination efforts begin to rise, more and more people are being vaccinated against the coronavirus; it may no longer be necessary to wear masks and social distance by the time it makes the market, which makes the Hazel largely obsolete. In terms of price, with the high quality materials and technology planned for the mask, each Hazel can cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars.

Regardless, masks have been a major topic in the months since the pandemic began, and Hazel could be a big step toward safety. Although most masks are not foolish and require additional steps such as social distance, Hazel’s N95 respirator means it will have one of the strongest defense programs. Hazel was just one of the many projects Razer announced at CES, as they also featured their new chair, Project Brooklyn, with built-in haptics and a curved OLED monitor, but all of these projects remain conceptual. By this time most people already have several masks to protect themselves, but maybe we should consider quality over quantity, at least until we know more about this project and many others.
