Razer’s Project Hazel face mask has big Metro 2033 energy

Already at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Razer began switching from their manufacturing facilities to making face masks for front-line workers. So far, they have donated more than a million face masks worldwide to hospitals, governments and other healthcare organizations, but now Razer is putting their own turn to this now important part of our lives with their Project Hazel concept. Called the World’s Smartest Face Mask, Project Hazel has a clear, transparent design with a built-in voice amplifier to make it easier to talk to people around you, and it will also cleanse and disinfect it by UV lights in its special boot. Why do you need a boot, I hear you ask? Well, there are Razer Chroma RGBs built in, are not they?

Yes, you read that right. RGBs in a face mask.

Do not let the rainbow circles deceive you, even though Project Hazel looks straight from Metro 2033 or The Division 2, it is a serious anti-Covid technology. The first is the N95 respirator for medical (or FFTP2 for those in Europe), which blocks at least 95% of the air particles. This standard is widely used by healthcare professionals across the board, but while some more traditional N95 breathing machines may be difficult to breathe due to their ultra-tight fit and lack of ventilation, Razer Project Hazel has equipped with active removable airflow fans to regulate. inside the mask.

These fans and the mask itself can also be simply disinfected by placing it in the drawer. It has four UV lights on the inside (two on the top, one on the back and another on the front) that will sterilize everything in it while the mask is charging so you can stay protected.

Project Hazel does not stop there either, as it also has a built-in microphone and Razer’s patent-pending VoiceAmp technology to make your speech sound clearer and less muted. Combine this with its clear and transparent design that lets you see if someone is smiling / screaming at you (which also has built-in white LEDs to illuminate your face in light settings), and you should not always resort to large, emphatic hand gestures to just saying, “Get away from me.”

Razer does not yet have an exact price or release date for Project Hazel, but it will definitely be here much sooner than their other recently announced CES concept product, Project Brooklyn. Razer told me that they already have a working prototype in place, but as with all their concept ideas, they will make further adjustments and optimize in the coming weeks and months to make sure it meets all the necessary safety standards without any make compromises regarding convenience or usability.
