Razer unveils new N95 face mask concept with RGB lighting and voice amplifier technology

At CES 2021, Razer introduced a new concept design for a ‘smart mask’ with a N95 surgical respirator, RGB lighting and voice amplification technology. The idea behind the smart mask, called Project Hazel, is to improve safety and solve some of the social problems associated with wearing a face mask such as muted voices, and to prevent wastage because it is reusable. is.

More specifically, the Project Hazel smart mask is made of waterproof, scratch-resistant, recyclable plastic with an airtight seal made possible by the adjustable ruffles. The aforementioned RGB lighting allows for more than 16 million colors and dynamic lightning to illuminate the wearer’s mouth, and the boot also contains a disinfectant UV light. And a built-in microphone can amplify the wearer’s voice. According to Razer, Project Hazel’s BFE Smart Pods can “filter at least 95% of airborne particles and have high fluid resistance.”

Project Hazel is not the first time Razer has supported the response to COVID-19. You may recall that in early 2020, the company made headlines about converting manufacturing facilities to make medical masks and then donating them. Project Hazel appears to be the next step in Razer’s efforts, but as a concept designer, at this stage it is not known whether it will market or merely inform the other efforts of the company.

“Razer recognizes the uncertainty in the way forward, so it was our duty to help protect our community members and prepare them for invisible threats,” said Min-Liang Tan, co-founder and CEO of Razer, as part of Project Hazel’s revelation. . “The Project Hazel Smart Mask concept is meant to be functional, yet comfortable and useful for interacting with the world, while maintaining a sociable aesthetic.”
