Razer is completely analog with their new Huntsman V2 keyboard

If you ever wished your keyboard could offer the same amount of control as the analog sticks on a game pad, then Razer’s newly announced Huntsman V2 Analog might just be the keyboard for you. This is the next evolution of their optics-based Huntsman keyboard that appeared a few years ago. Only these have Razer’s new analog optical switches, which according to Razer can mimic the feel of an analog joystick input. This, according to Razer, enables a ‘real’ 360 degree movement, removing the restrictions to hold on to the old 8 degree movements we have become so accustomed to with our WASD keys. Intrigued? This is what you need to know.

Like the regular optical switches from Razer, these new analog-optical switches use light rays to record every press on the test. This makes them very fast compared to your typical mechanical keyboard and also more durable because there are fewer moving parts. However, to replicate the feel of an analog stick, Razer’s analog optical switches can now measure how much light is passing through the switch, so he knows how far it is pushed, so you can crawl forward instead of a full run break example. Watch the video below to get a better idea of how it all works.

Design-wise, the Huntsman V2 Analog shares a similar design to Razer’s popular Huntsman Elite keyboard, with the same compact form factor, media keys and volume switch, but adds dual-solution PBT keys for extra durability and a more standardized bottom drive keys for easier adjustment. Razer also added a single braided cable to the mix, as well as a USB 3.0 port for USB throughput. There is even a USB Type-C adapter included in the box if you want to connect something other than a mouse to it.

The Huntsman V2 Analog will, according to Razer, be available in various regional layouts, including UK, German, French, Nordic, Russian, Spanish and Japanese, and it will also be compatible with Razer’s PBT Keycap Upgrade Sets if you choose the colors. The special keys make it very expensive, of course, with UK and US models for £ 250 / $ 250. I’ll test the Huntsman V2 Analog soon to find out more, but if you’re already convinced and don’t want to wait, this is it now available at Razer’s online store and will be coming to other online retailers on February 9th. .
