Razer enters the sound glasses arena with Anzu glasses

The Razer Anzu is available in round and square styles in two size options (the large round is shown here).

Sound glasses are fast becoming something. Last year, Bose followed its original Frames with three second-generation models, including the sporty Tempo Fames, and Amazon sells its second generation Echo Frames while many others, like Razer, are now jumping on the ‘smart’ glasses action. The Razer Anzer, available in round and square versions in two different size options, is now available for $ 200 (£ 200, AU $ 320).

I have not tried it yet, but the design (at least the square version) and specifications do not look so different from other models I have tried. The small size weighs 43 grams, while the large one weighs 48 grams (the Echo Frames are 31 grams for comparison). The glasses contain 35% lenses for blue light filter, a set of polarized sunglasses lenses (you can easily change them), have touch controls and integrated 16 mm speaker drivers that turn directional sound to your open ears.

They are IPX4 water resistant (which means they are splash resistant) so you can use them to run. Sound glasses work well for running and cycling, as they leave your ears open so you can hear traffic. Battery life is moderate to five hours at moderate volume and additional polarized lenses are available for $ 30.

It’s also worth noting: as Razer is a ‘gaming lifestyle’ company, it emphasizes low-latency Bluetooth technology – it says the ‘custom Bluetooth 5.1 connection’ offers leading 60ms latency for smoothness , hackless sound. ‘

The Razer Anzu Companion app for iOS and Android enables firmware updates, lets you make EQ adjustments (default, enhanced clarity or triple boost), access latency settings, and battery status. You can make calls with them and access your virtual assistant at the touch of a button.

Razer has a partnership with Lensabl for prescribed lenses, although more online replacement lens sites, including replacerxlenses.com and oornagbril.com, it can fit with RX lenses. Lensabl is offering a 15% discount to Anzu owners, but you can compare the prices with the prices of other sites.

Like I said, I do not know what the Anzu sounds like, but most sound sunglasses do not sound that good and tend to be missing in the bass section – and everyone tends to leak sound at higher volumes. The new Bose 2.0 Frames are by far easily the best sound on the market, but Amazon’s Echo Frames are lighter and probably more comfortable to carry.

Once I get my hands on a few, I’ll let you know how it compares to their main competitors and whether it’s worthy of our list of best sound glasses and sunglasses.
