Whatever the future holds for the DC Extended Universe, it is unlikely that Ray Fisher’s version of Cyborg will appear.

The wrap reported that despite Cyborg once with a cameo set up for the upcoming Andy Muschietti Flash starring film Ezra Miller, the role has now been written out and will not be reconstituted. io9 independently confirmed this with a source close to the project.

The news comes after that months of public disputes between Fisher and Warner Bros. concerning allegations of misconduct on the set of Joss Whedon’s Justice League rule. On December 11, WarnerMedia issued a statement saying that the investigation (which began in August 2020) into the events had been completed and that “corrective action had been taken.” That expired on December 30 with Fisher giving an ultimatum, or apparently giving up his superhero role, when he partially tweeted: ‘I will not be participating in any production related to Walter Hamada, president of DC Films.

While Hamada did not work Justice League Fisher claimed during the initial alleged events that he was complicit in the fact. At the time, Warner Bros. issued a statement saying in part: “The two spoke before when Hamada asked him to play his role as Cyborg in Warner Bros.” upcoming Flash movie, along with other members of the Justice League. In their July conversation, Mr. Fisher shares the disagreements he had with the film’s creative team over his rendition of Cyborg, and complains that his suggested text versions are not accepted. Mr. Hamada explained that creative differences are a normal part of the production process, and that the writer / director of a film should ultimately be responsible for this. Mr. Hamada also especially addressed Mr. Fisher said he would raise his concerns to WarnerMedia so they can investigate. “

Just this week, Warner Bros. renews Hamada’s contract to continue his role at DC Films. In response to the news the same day, Fisher tweeted, ‘It’s strange how these reactionary announcements from [Warner Bros.] always forget to mention that Walter Hamada directly with Geoff Johns and Toby Emmerich (to Shazam) WHILE Justice League review … ”

With Hamada managing DC Films for the foreseeable future and Fisher saying he will not work with DC under Hamada, the team behind The flash decided to take out the Cyborg cameo. Cameos of Batman actors Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton as their respective Bruce Wayne’s remain and trade is closed. This means that unless there are some major moves on the Warner Bros. side, Fisher’s Cyborg will last be seen in the coming year. Snyder Sny van Justice League, which will play an extensive role for the character. It will appear later this year.
