“When Ray Donovan left our air after seven wonderful seasons, we heard from so many of his loyal fans that they were not ready to say goodbye to Ray and the wonderful dysfunctional Donovan family,” said Gary Levine, CEO of Showtime, said. “And that’s why we’re delighted that Liev and David are creating an exciting new chapter of this iconic series.”

Production is expected to begin indefinitely in New York.

When the cancellation of the program was announced in February 2020, Schreiber promised in an Instagram message that there would be more of the character.

‘It’s hard to describe how wonderful it feels for those of us in the Ray Donovan family who have been fortunate enough to experience the overwhelming love and support you have all expressed for our program since the news broke that Ray did not would not return, ‘he said at the time. “What’s even more incredible is that your voices seem to have been heard.”
