A woman who worked as a personal assistant for rapper Soulja Boy claimed Thursday that the artist sexually abused, beat and held her hostage.
The woman said she started working in California in late 2018 for Soulja Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way.
The case, which was filed in Los Angeles and identifies the assistant only as Jane Doe, says the abuse began when Way sent an unsolicited photo of his penis to the woman shortly after she started working for him.
The couple did end up in a similar relationship, but by January of 2019, Way had started physically abusing the woman, the suit reads.
And in February, Way sexually assaulted the woman for the first time, saying the case, adding that he then “expressed remorse” and gave her $ 1,000. Later, “on numerous occasions, and sometimes twice on the same day, accused Way would improperly touch plaintiff’s body, forcefully pull out her pants and rape her,” the case said.
Way often gets jealous when the woman gets comments on Instagram or gets a phone call and responds by throwing her on the floor and kicking her in the ribs or punching her, the lawsuit claimed.
“In the course of this abusive relationship, defendant Way struck the plaintiff directly in the head on at least ten separate occasions,” the case said.
One time, Way followed an assault by saying, ‘I should have killed you,’ according to the lawsuit. After verbal assaults, he often said, “I did not mean that,” the suit added.
He also locked the woman in a room without hot water for three days, according to the suit, after she tried to stop and leave.
In August last year, “Way attacked the plaintiff so hard that she thought she was going to die” and when she became aware outside his house again, she ran.
When she returned a month later to recover her belongings, Way refused to return her belongings and instead took the opportunity to rape the plaintiff again.
According to the case, the woman left nothing behind because she was not paid the wage she was promised while she was employed for 18 months. She claims she did not pay the $ 500 a week promised to her by Way for her duties, including cleaning, cooking, driving the musician and handling itineraries.
“The way we treat our client as an employee and a person who deserves respect has traumatized her and filled her with fear,” her attorney, Neama Rahmani, said in a statement. “His abuse locked her up physically, mentally and emotionally. When she mustered the courage to flee, he impoverished her. Its exploitation severely hampered our client’s ability to re-establish himself in the workplace and in society. We believe he should be held accountable. ”
Way served earlier in 2019 due to violation of the probationary period due to charges of possession of weapons.
Last year, an ex-girlfriend charged Way with assault and battery and false imprisonment. The case is pending.
Soulja Boy gained notoriety in 2007 when his debut single “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” hit number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 series.
Representatives of Way did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Friday, but a spokesman told TMZ: “Soulja will never put a female in his hands. -Feel !!!”
