Rams expect Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp to play against Packers

The Green Bay Packers are unlikely to interrupt any injuries when the Los Angeles Rams arrive at Lambeau Field for the NFC Division I playoff game on Saturday.

Rams coach Sean McVay said Sunday he expects defender Aaron Donald and wide receiver Cooper Kupp to play against the Packers despite new injuries.

The Rams upset the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, but both Donald (ribs) and Kupp (knee) left the game and did not return. McVay is both described as daily and has expressed confidence in the ability of both to play against the Packers in the next round of the playoffs.

Donald hurt his ribs while tackling Russell Wilson in the second half. Kupp chopped off late in the fourth quarter at the end of the play.

Donald is a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and the most disruptive defensive lineman in the game. Donald was a first-team All-Pro for the sixth consecutive season and in 2020 produced 13.5 sacks, 27 quarterback hits and four forced fobbles.

Kupp, the Rams’ leading receiver, has 92 passes for 974 yards and three touchdowns this season.

The Rams have not yet decided who will play quarterback on Saturday. McVay has to choose between Jared Goff, who is suffering from a thumb injury, and John Wolford, who was hit with a sting from Saturday’s victory. While the quarterback situation looks bleak, the Rams will get a big boost in Lambeau Field if Donald and Kupp can play.

It is unclear how the elements in Green Bay – including the cold – would affect the Rams’ injury situation.

The Rams will only release an injury report later this week. Official directions for injuries for the match will only be available on Friday.
