Ram trash talks to Ford on Twitter ahead of new F-150 Raptor launch

The truck wars took over to Twitter.

Ford is preparing to unveil the latest version of its high-performance F-150 Raptor campaign on the field on Wednesday, but its rival Ram has not.

The Raptor was originally launched in 2010 and had no direct competition until the Ram 1500 TRX for 2021 started with the most powerful engine ever offered in a production pickup. The V8 with 702 hp charger that dwarfs the most recent V6 with turbocharged Raptor’s 450 hp.

Ram made this point in response to Ford’s report in which he announced the upcoming unveiling of the Raptor with the words “POP THE HOOD”.

Ford has not indicated what kind of engine the new Raptor will contain, and it remains to be seen whether it even wants to compete with the TRX up front. However, the TRX offers a similar ride and handling capability as the previous Raptor, but at a higher weight than the Ford with aluminum body, which helps compensate for the extra power. However, there are rumors that Ford is planning a version of the Raptor that borrows the V8-powered V8 from the Mustang Shelby GT500.

This is not the first time a Stellantis brand has tried to rain on one of Ford’s rallies. Last July, Jeep debuted the 470hp V70-powered Wrangler Rubicon 392 just hours before Ford’s long-awaited unveiling of the 2021 Bronco, which will only be offered with turbocharged four- and six-cylinder engines … for now.
