Raiders wanting to trade Rodney Hudson

Yesterday we heard the Raiders cut the Pro Bowl Center Rodney Hudson. Not so fast. Las Vegas is actually trying to trade Hudson first via trading, a source told Josina Anderson (Twitter) link).

In a follow-up tweet, Anderson notes that there is a trade that chooses a second day. A Day 2 pick would be a pretty good move for a player they were on the verge of. There has been a recent trend in the NFL that reports are leaking that a player was just about to cut for the team trying to swap him at the last minute, sometimes sometimes unsuccessfully. The Saints are reportedly going to cut defensive tackle Malcom Brown, and then they exchanged him with the Jags yesterday.

The dolphins are ready to cut Kyle Van Noy, then tried to trade him, only to finally release him after finding no finders. Whether Hudson is traded or released, it’s still a dramatic overhaul of the Raiders’ offensive line. This step follows Las Vegas’ tracks from Gabe Jackson and Richie Incognito and its trade Trent Brown to New England.

Hudson (31) finished last season as overall center no. 8 for Pro Football Focus. The Raiders signed him for a three-year extension of $ 33.75MM in 2019. In six seasons with the team, he missed only four total games.

The Florida State product and former head of Kansas City made the Pro Bowl in three of the past five seasons and was a second team All-Pro in 2019.
