The failed mobile first stream service Quibi is according to advanced discussions to sell the rights to its content library to Roku The Wall Street Journal. The report does not indicate a possible price for the acquisition, noting that the two parties may not be able to reach an agreement.
Should that happen, the deal could give the Roku Channel exclusive access to Quibi’s software. None of Quibi’s programs really started, but Roku might feel that the content would have a better chance if it were available on the best-selling streaming devices in the US.
Quibi has announced that it will go on strike in October, just six months after its launch. The head of the service was led by former HP CEO Meg Whitman and former Disney chairman and film producer Jeffrey Katzenberg, who managed to raise nearly $ 2 billion in funding before the app was released.
Katzenberg has already tried to get companies, including Facebook and NBCUniversal, to pick up Quibi programming before their demise, according to The information.
