The trailer begins with Latifah, who plays Robyn McCall, and walks with her daughter Delilah, played by Laya DeLeon.

When asked by her child why she abruptly quit her job a month earlier, a quick set of shots is shown depicting Latifah exercising herself in a gym and on the street, to which the 50-year-old actress replies: ‘ It’s complicated. ‘

Another montage of shots is seen, of which the Grammy-winning singer holds a gun during an operation with other individuals, and eventually finds a number of young women hiding in a closet.

She is then seen with former CIA director William Bishop, played by Chris Noth, who informs her that the agency is gaining her vigilance, to which she responds that she is no longer under their jurisdiction.

Latifah is then confronted by a friend of hers who asks if she’s ‘some kind of ex-cop’, to which she responds that she has become: ‘the one you call if you can not call 911.’

A brief physical exchange is seen where she pushes a criminal against a wall, to his surprise, and the footage ends.

A graphic image of fluorescent lights is then displayed, along with the series’ release date on February 7, directly after the Super Bowl.

The time slot after the Super Bowl is one of the most popular places in television scheduling, and many major networks use the time to broadcast a special episode of an existing series or to premiere an entirely new one.

Some of the shows that started after the annual sporting event include The A-Team, Family Guy and Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The development of the remake series was initially announced in November 2019 with Latifah serving as executive producer on the program.

After CBS issued a pilot order in January last year, the production team began to be ready to start filming in March before being delayed by the onset of the global pandemic; shooting finally started later in the year.

Cast members, including Tory Kittles, Lorraine Toussaint and Liza Lapira.

The Equalizer was previously adapted into a 2014 film starring Denzel Washington and Chloe Grace Moretz; the project received mixed reviews but was a success at the box office.

The Washington-led film produced a sequel of 2018, which also performed well financially.
