Puzzle Quest returns after ten years of absence. Puzzle Quest 3 will once again combine game 3 and RPG mechanics with original designer Steve Fawkner at the helm, but this time it will – possibly uo – play for free.
There’s not much to go on based on the trailer, or in the press release, which vaguely promises’ a twist to the traditional puzzle game ‘and’ an intense 1-on-1 combat system set in a 3D game world is realized ‘.
Match-3 gets a bad rap, but there is little more satisfying in games than matching a bunch of gems of the same color. In Puzzle Quest, different types of matches gave your hero different resources that they could then spend on attacks on different fantasy monsters. There was a quickly identified pattern in your pattern adjustment, but it was extremely more icy.
I’m undeniably excited about the announcement of Puzzle Quest 3, if it does not play for free. There are many great examples of F2P games today, but I have yet to see a model for game 3 games that has not harmed the gaming experience. I play match 3 games to relax, but it’s hard to relax when there are limited lives or a declining energy source that ends my play session or asks me to cough up coins to continue.
John wrote a Puzzle Quest 2 review for us in 2010 and forced him to keep playing, even though he was repetitive.
It’s ridiculous that I, after playing it for days, just repeated the same actions over and over again, that I know as soon as I finish writing this, I will go play again. I’m pretty sure what it offers can not justify the interest I play in it. But I will not stop. I do not want to stop. I want to repeat that action. And repeat the action. And repeat the action. And I’m almost not interested in changing the context.
Puzzle Quest 2 does not appear to be for sale on a PC, as it was removed from its publisher by Steam, but the original Puzzle Quest is still available. Puzzle Quest 3 has an official website where you can sign up for updates.
