Publix offers coronavirus vaccine in all stores in Florida

Publix will begin offering appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine at all 730 pharmacies in the store, the Lakeland grocery store announced Thursday.

As of Friday morning, Publix’s vaccine registration system has the newly expanded availability and will include 136 new stores in the provinces of Miami-Dade and Broward. The appointment system will also include slots in the provinces of Citrus and Hernando, which were suspended due to the delay in vaccinating the vaccine last week.

“We are pleased to offer opportunities for each of our Florida pharmacies in the store,” Todix Jones, CEO of Publix, said in a statement. “We know how important this vaccine is to the people we serve, and we are grateful that we can expand our ability to help our communities during this time of need.”

Publix was the first retail pharmacy to co-administer the Moderna vaccine in Florida with the state. Now Walmart and Winn-Dixie stores are also offering the vaccine across the state.

Floridians who are 65 years or older or work as front-line health workers can get the vaccine from a retail pharmacist. Appointments can only be made via Publix’s online system at publix.com/covidvaccine.

The new appointment goes online on Friday at 07:00

According to Publix, the online booking systems will usually open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with new appointments. The appointment slots during each launch will vary and may not include every participating store or country.
