Publix joins a growing list of groceries that offer incentives for workers to be vaccinated

The popular Southern supermarket chain said it offers 125 employees gift cards for their employees when they sign up and show proof of vaccination.

Although more and more employers are offering similar incentives, vaccine distribution and suitability are still fluctuating across the country. Most of the more than 2.4 million low-wage grocery workers in the U.S. are not yet eligible for the vaccine.
Aldi offers its hourly workers two hours’ payment for each dose of vaccine they receive. This equates to a total of up to four hours of paid free time. The grocery chain said it would also cover ‘costs associated with administering vaccines’ to employees who want to be vaccinated.

Dollar General

The family chain gives its workers a one-time payment equal to four hours’ payment after receiving a completed vaccination.

Instacart

Instacart said it would provide financial assistance to its in-store workers and independent contractors. The food delivery company offers a $ 25 “vaccine support allowance” for inoculated in-store employees and independent contractors.

Independent Purchasing has had to buy and deliver at least five lots for the company over the past 30 days to qualify for the grant.

Merchant Joe’s

According to a company spokesman, trader Joe’s is offering his workers’ an extra 2 hours of regular pay per dose to take the time to be vaccinated.

Kroger

Kroger is offering its associates a one-time payment of $ 100 if they provide proof that they have recommended the full doses of a Covid-19 vaccine recommended by the manufacturer. For employees who are unable to get the vaccine for health or religious reasons, they can still receive the $ 100 payment if they take a health and safety training course, the company said.

The supermarket chain said it also plans to spend another $ 50 million to reward its employees, which includes a $ 100 credit and 1,000 fuel points to its hourly grocery, supply chain, manufacturing, pharmacy and call center staff.

Publix

Similar to Kroger, Publix said it would give its employees a $ 125 Publix gift card for workers who receive the full Covid-19 vaccine.

To receive the gift card, employees must submit an internal form along with proof of vaccination. The company says its employees do not need to be vaccinated at a Pharmacy Pharmacy to receive the gift cards.

Starbucks

The coffee giant gives its employees up to two hours paid dose per dose, or a total of up to four hours paid time.

Target

Target said it offers its more than 350,000 hourly employees up to four hours’ pay – two hours for each dose they receive – and free Lyft rides of up to $ 15 per way to get to and from their vaccine appointments.
