According to the official PlayStation Status website, parts of PSN are experiencing problems. More specifically, the PlayStation Status website gives the message that Sony is aware that PS5, PS4, PS3 and PlayStation Vita players ‘are having trouble launching games, apps and networking features.’ And according to the support page, these issues have been going on for several hours, and at the moment there is no word on when they will be resolved.
While PSN’s gaming and social elements are experiencing issues, every other aspect of PSN – Account Management, PlayStation Now, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, PlayStation Music and PlayStation Direct – is all normal and ongoing, but reports are starting to have issues with the purchase and download games from PlayStation Store.
At the time of publication, it is unclear how common the problem is or what the problem is, and as noted, it is also unclear when a solution is available. Usually these issues are resolved quickly, but it has been going on for a few hours at this point, which suggests that this is a bigger issue that Sony needs more time to address.
That said, it’s an evolving story, so we’ll definitely update it as the official updates come in. At the moment, none of the official PlayStation social media accounts have addressed the issues, and it is unlikely that updates will come this way, but the PlayStation The status website is real-time and will provide the updates.
