Psaki dismisses reporter who asked about gender discrimination

White House press secretary Jen Psaki cut off a Fox News reporter who asked at Tuesday’s daily media conference about the president’s gender discrimination order.

The exchange with Fox News Radio White House correspondent Rachel Sutherland comes a day after Psaki mocked another reporter from the same network who called for the creation of “green work” following the canceled Keystone XL pipeline.

Sutherland has asked about concerns expressed by some critics of the order, who believe it will enable transgender girls of school-going age to take part in girls’ sports leagues – possibly providing an unequal playing field.

“What message would the White House have to girls and cis girls who would eventually compete against each other,” Sutherland asked. “This leads to some lawsuits and concerns among parents, so does this administration have the guidelines for schools to deal with the issue of transgender girls competing against cis girls?”

“I do not know what your question is,” Psaki replied.

Sutherland then went on to say, “The president’s executive order has …” before being cut short by Psaki.

“I know the order, but what was your question about it?” shot back the press secretary.

‘The question is whether the president has a message for local school officials to deal with such disputes that are already starting to arise between trans girls competing against cis girls, and an equal playing field, especially in high school sports if it leads to university scholarships, Said Sutherland.

“Is there any form of message or clarification that the White House wants to give on the executive order?” she added.

“I would just say that the president believes that trans rights are human rights, and that is why he signed the executive order,” Psaki said. “As for the provisions of universities and colleges, I definitely want to do that.”

Biden’s executive order, signed on his first day in office, seeks to enforce a ruling by the Supreme Court last year that prohibits discrimination based on someone’s gender identity and sexual orientation.
