Note, Valheim players – a ‘world destroyer’ bug restores characters and worlds and developer Iron Gate has not yet been able to succeed.
“If you play Valheim this weekend, make a backup of your world and characters,” tweeted Iron Gate CEO Richard Svensson. “The evil world destroyer bug is still roaming free.

“This is a bad bug, which we have not been able to reproduce once :(. It seems to occur more frequently when leaving the game with ALT + F4, so try using menu-> exit instead,” he said. Svensson added.
For now, however, players are advised to locate their game files – “in Windows Worlds and characters are stored in C: Users Username AppData LocalLow IronGate Valheim ” – and copy it, and keep a backup securely elsewhere only in case you are affected.
If you have already lost data, also try checking the folders, as it may prevent older storage from being hidden – search for the .db.old and .fwl.old files and remove the .old to recover them use (thanks, PC player).
Valheim may have only started on Steam on February 2 earlier this month, but it’s already over one million players in danger. In fact, it had a maximum number of simultaneous players of just over 160,000 players, making it the fourth most played game on Steam at one point. This is quite the amazing thing about Iron Gate’s game.
As we explained yesterday Valheim’s roadmap for 2021 has been revealed, if you are not familiar with it, it is essentially a Nordic survival game. You are dropped on a Norwegian map with nothing but the clothes on your back, and the task is to feed and survive while you repel enemies and creatures while trying to build your own settlement. So far, this formula has proven a big hit with Steam players.
