PSA: if you use Slack on Android, you need to update your password

You will need to change your Slack password when using the app on Android, according to an email sent by the company and published by Android Police. Apparently, the Android version of the Slack app from December 21 to January 21 will store users’ credentials in plain text, which theoretically means other apps on your phone can access them.

If you have installed the popular communication tool on your Android phone, the first thing you want to do is update the latest version of the Play Store, as changing your password will not benefit you if you are still working. the old version. If you then received the email from Slack, you can click on the link to change your password. Otherwise, you will need to reset your computer password according to Slack’s instructions.

First log in to Slack, then go to your profile, which you can visit by clicking on your photo in the top right corner of the app or web app and clicking on View Profile. Then click the More button and Account Settings. From there, you should be able to change your password, but it’s worth noting that the option will not be available if your organization uses ‘Single Sign-On’.

Of course, if you have used your Slack password on other sites, you will also need to change your passwords for it (preferably to something unique).
