PS5 updates for Amazon, Target, Best Buy, Walmart and more

Sony’s PlayStation 5 is still in high demand and the stock shortage has continued in the weeks since the US launch on November 12 last year.

The next-generation game console has sporadically appeared on the websites of retail giants such as Amazon, Walmart and BestBuy – with the company’s communications limited in terms of when fresh stock is expected to be made available to the public.

Many fans have now turned to Twitter, where dedicated accounts have been set up for the purpose of monitoring and providing news about possible availability of PS5, including SupplyNinja, Target Restock Alerts, YtNextGenGaming and PS5StockAlerts.

Be warned though, it is advised to keep hopes and expectations in check. Any website that gets inventory is likely to be overwhelmed by traffic. Twitter will likely contain links to scam and PS5 scalpers use bots to wipe out consoles in large quantities.

No official news, social media and media are now filled with rumors and speculations about the new ‘PlayStation 5 drops’ at major retailers, which often make the consoles available to buy without significant warning and sell out most quickly.

Purpose PS5 Reload

The PS5 and digital edition were both not in stock at the time of writing, with no official news on when they will return to the site. The DualSense Wireless Controller ($ 69.99) was in stock at the time of delivery.

The Twitter profile @TargetRestock has suggested that the Pulse 3D Wireless Gaming headset, DualSense charging station and the Media Remote will also be available today.

Walmart PS5 Reload

The PS5 and digital edition were both out of stock at the time of writing, with no official news on when they will return. The DualSense Wireless Controller ($ 69.96) was in stock and available for delivery at the time of writing. The Twitter profile @SupplyNinja speculates that a drop could happen this week, but this has not been confirmed.

Best buy PS5 Reload

The PS5 and the digital edition – and bundles of both – were at the time it was out of stock, and no official news on when they would return. The DualSense Wireless Controller ($ 69.99) was currently in stock and available for delivery.

Amazon PS5 Reload

The PS5 and the digital edition were at the time unavailable, and no official news on when they will return to the retail giant’s website. Newsweek previously reported consoles were available on January 1, but they sold out quickly.

Twitter profile YtNextGenGaming said on Saturday that rumors suggest that Best Buy, Costco, Target, Walmart and Newegg may have more stock in the coming week.

The person behind one account warned Saturday that this is not an exact science. “I get dozens of DMs asking exactly what day the drops are taking place this week. No one knows for sure. They are called drops because retailers randomly drop stock. It is random,” the Twitter profile @SupplyNinja wrote. “I’m a ninja, not a psychologist.”
