PS5 stock: when can you expect the console to appear at Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, Amazon, Target and more?

New year, new console? Few gamers have managed to a PlayStation 5 in 2020, but it’s a fresh new year. Sony’s next-generation console was launched on November 12 last year, but the stock could not match the demand, and it sold out more or less immediately. In recent months, we have seen a number of inventory declines at major retailers, but few people have since managed to claim a console. ordinary users had to compete with bots and merchants. Currently, the only consoles you can buy are marked down to obscene levels on sites like eBay and StockX, often multiple times their trade value of $ 400 or $ 500. On eBay, for example, I saw it cost more than $ 1,000. The console was otherwise virtually impossible to find, with at least one person waiting 36 hours in line to get one at a California GameStop.

Some more good news: Earlier this month at CES Sony has confirmed that a number of games, such as Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Little Devil Inside and Solar Ash, are on track for their scheduled release dates in the first half of the year. If you already have a PS5 in hand, there are good times ahead. But for the rest of us, stocks are virtually non-existent.

Twitter is still a source to watch for stock news, even though we are seeing less big stock declines. Instead, retailers seem to be switching to a policy of smaller, more frequent declines that sells quickly and without much online fanfare. Either way, it will take a while before a PS5 can be easily found. But I’ll keep an eye on the stock again, and will update this article if it looks like you can get a PS5.

The PS5 is available in two versions: there is a $ 500 Blu-ray Model and an otherwise identical $ 400 digital version without a disc slot. At this point, people are happy to get their hands on one, but if you do not have a library of optical discs – for Blu-ray movies, used games or old PS4 games – CNET recommends goes with the $ 400 version.
