Sony will reportedly reload the limited-edition PlayStation 5 in the United States, the United Kingdom and Ireland later this week.
Retailers in the United States, the United Kingdom and Ireland apparently expect to receive it PlayStation 5 reloads later this week on January 7th. Both the recently released Microsoft and Sony consoles are difficult to buy in stores and online, but it seems to be particularly difficult to obtain the latest PlayStation hardware.
PS5 was even difficult to acquire in the weeks before the arrival of November 2020, mainly due to a pre-order debacle prompted by incorrect communication and limited stock. Of course, the global pandemic has made matters worse. And the launch day was no better; those without pre-order were told in advance that in-store purchases would not be possible. In addition, the effort to secure orders online has been nothing more than a crapshoot put together by scalpers who have since caught up with millions in the resale market.

Those who have so far missed out on buying a PlayStation 5 may soon be lucky. According to Twitter user PS5 Stock Central, stock should be available this week in the United States, United Kingdom and Ireland. In a subsequent tweet from the account, it is alleged that retailers in the above regions expect to receive stock by 7 January. If the stock does not reach the appointed time, another week may elapse before the delivery is within.

Here’s the hope that this means more fans will be able to get their hands on the hardware soon. Either way, Sony has a big task this year. According to reports, the console has already moved more than four million units worldwide, while others indicate that Sony will send at least 18 million units to retailers by the end of the year. Whether anyone can achieve such high expectations, anyone would suggest, but these numbers point to a potential sales path that is more impressive than that of the PS4 record success.
Not all of the PS5’s sales-related news is positive, especially not from Sony’s point of view. From now on, the new hardware still has to move the needle into Sony’s home country, Japan. According to a report by GamesIndustry.biz Japan Edition, the pace of PS5 sales in the region, makes it Sony’s worst sales console in Japan so far. In the event that this slow start no longer gains momentum, it is possible that sales of PS5 in Japan will only reach half of what the PS4 was able to accomplish in its life cycle.
