Conventional wisdom believes that the PlayStation 5 costs $ 400 or $ 500, depending on which model you buy. The “standard” PS5 with Blu-Ray disc sells for $ 500, and there is almost the same digital version which does not have an optical disc and sells for a more modest $ 400 (although it even pales in comparison to the pure $ 300 Xbox Series S). But it’s hard to make the argument if the PS5 is sold out at three months at the prices, and sees the only real market for the console prices two or three times higher.
Internet retailers have snatched up Sony’s next-generation console using bots that can complete transactions much faster than anyone. Some retailers have started to curb these reseller bots, but it remains a threat and has prevented many people from getting consoles during launch and during subsequent stock sales. Regardless, these consoles are resold at a premium. Now immediately on eBayFor example, it is possible to find the PS5 with one or two accessories that sell for as little as $ 650 or up to $ 1,500.
We have been issuing the same advice for months now: no console, not even the PS5, is worth spending hundreds on retail. This is especially true with so little available content specifically suited for the PS5. Win suggests playing your PS4 for a few more months, until a significant amount of stock arrives at retailers later this year.

To be clear, we recommend that you wait for inventory to appear in retail. But if you need a PS5 now, we have not seen one for less than $ 650 on eBay. The average price on eBay appears to be around $ 800.
If you have decided that you are willing to pay hundreds more than the price to get a console now, you may want to visit StockX. At the moment, it seems that $ 700 is the least you can spend on a PS5, and that prices are going significantly higher.
