PS5 APU breakdown reveals some Zen 2 FPU components are missing

A detailed breakdown of the PS5 APU has been posted by Twitter user Fritzchen’s Fritz, revealing some key features about the console’s meaty interior.

The PS5 APU breakdown reveals that some Zen 2 FPU parts are actually missing in the console, with another user noting that there is no Unified Cache for the CPU or Infinity Cache for the GPU. It probably won’t mean much unless you have great technology, but people are already saying that the PS5 is not as powerful as people initially assumed.

Elsewhere, Twitter user Michael T, a hardware and technology analyst, said:

The PS5 was released on November 12, 2020 in the US and on November 19 in the UK. The console has already shipped 4.5 million units worldwide, which is off to a good start in the next generation war against Xbox Series X / S.

Nevertheless, the console is still suffering from stock shortages, something that does not help by scalpers who can bypass online queues to obtain orders in front of regular customers.
