PS4 firmware update will add requests features and remove communities

The new firmware update for the PS4 gives users what they’ve been craving for a while and removes an underutilized feature to improve the UI.

A new firmware update for the PS4 offers a bit of give-and-take by adding the requested features and removing communities. Sony’s latest generation console is kept relevant, with many developers still supporting games on the system and releasing new titles for it. The current console generation is still trying to make its progress, with its predecessor maintaining its presence as a good choice for many gamers as Sony and Microsoft try to expand the offering for retailers and consumers.

As such, platform reconciliation has become even more sought after among fans, with titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War supports the feature. In addition, PS5 users can still play many of their favorite PS4 exclusives on the new system, such as Ghost of Tsushima and Final Fantasy VII Remake, the latter of which recently announced that Yuffie DLC is coming to the PS5. As the industry continues to move to the current generation of games, it’s important to keep the previous console generation up to date for fans’ continued support.

With that end in sight, MP1ST reports that the new PS4 firmware update adds certain features while removing another. The primary asset that the update implements is the ability for users to enable or disable notifications for individual groups. In addition, fans can now request to join a game session of session leaders, who can then invite players to their game. The update also gives players more anonymity when playing games they have hidden, as other players will no longer see what they are playing. Eventually, communities will no longer be available.

PlayStation Consoles are arranged on PS4

Firmware updates are the silent fans of technology. Phones, controllers, consoles, routers and more benefit from their application. The PS4, while no longer the most advanced system available to Sony, is still an excellent technological advancement and maintains a huge user base. Until Sony can make the PS5 faster (after reopening the world), the previous generation console will likely remain the primary system used by many fans.

Players are known for being outspoken and quickly showing every imperfection (as well as every milestone). If Sony had not kept the PS4 up to date, despite the launch of the PS5 in November 2020, the company would have heard it regularly. Fortunately, there is a possibility that locks will be lifted in the near future, and the technological conglomerate may find itself in a position to get PS5s into the hands of more users and gradually the PS4 behind, especially if the current generation system retains the support of backward compatibility with PS4 titles.
