PS4 Firmware Update 8.50 Beta Invitations Sent By Sony

PS4 Firmware Update 8.50 PlayStation 4 1

Check your email: you may have an invitation for the next big PlayStation 4 beta. According to MP1st, Sony is sending out codes for an update of the system software that is planned to be released sometime in the spring. Since the PS5 is already available, it’s less full-fledged than previous PS4 firmware updates – though it’s worth adjusting for quality of life.

For example, you can now turn off message notifications for groups you’re part of and request to join friends’ games. Furthermore, if you have “hidden” a game in your profile, your friends will no longer be able to see you playing it. This is something we were able to deal with earlier in the generation, to be honest, as some revision bans stipulate that we should appear offline.

Perhaps the biggest change is the removal of the community function, which is discontinued. There are no changes to the controversial new Party system, though Sony has admitted that it has been examining improvements following strong feedback last year. Did you get a beta invitation? Are you going to try it? Let us know in the comments below.
