February’s PlayStation Plus matches have been officially announced – and it’s honestly one of the best. We’ve known for a while that Destruction AllStars would be the main release on PlayStation 5 in February, but there’s more to next month’s choice than that.
Control: Ultimate Edition is also part of the deal, available on both PS5 and PS4 – an inclusion we’ve never seen come. And to round things off, we have the lovingly produced Concrete Genie on PS4. Not bad, is it?
All three games can be downloaded from Tuesday 2 February. Destruction AllStars is available for two months until April 5th.
While we still need to review Destruction AllStars – keep your eyes peeled for next week’s full coverage – we recommended Concrete Genie in our 7/10 review:
Concrete Genie is a warm, joyful experience that embraces creativity in a unique way. It’s effortlessly fun to paint you through Denska, and the geniuses who help Ash through his adventure are delightful. While this mainstay of the game is well realized, fights feel like an afterthought because they are hidden at the end. This and a few smaller editions detract from the game of greatness, but as a whole, it’s definitely worth playing – and also pretty much as a picture.
We also need to review the PS5 version of Control: Ultimate Edition, but we had fun with the original PS4 version in our 7/10 review:
There is no doubt that Control is a good experience, but it will not appear in the history books. The exploratory and combat-oriented game is an important highlight thanks to abilities that give you the chance to get creative, but the unreliable framework that accompanies it stops the enjoyment far too often. It’s definitely worth playing, but it’s about as far as any significant praise can go.
