In a Zoom call with reporters this afternoon, dr. Ian Hoffman, the province’s health official, said the country was ready to distribute COVID-19 vaccine given to locals 75 years and older.
Hoffman said local health care providers and the province’s health department in the province will release details from next week on how people in that age group can sign up for appointments to receive the vaccine.
“We met today with all the local health leaders to inform them of this plan,” Hoffman said. ‘They are aware that we are going to open phase 1B. They have been preparing for this for weeks. They are aware that in the coming days and weeks they will build up their clinics and send out information to their patients to let them know when and where they can get their vaccination. ”
The Health Division and its partners will handle vaccination for people without current health care providers, Hoffman said.
Unlike some other places in the state, this next phase of the vaccination schedule will not include people aged 65-74. Earlier this week, the state Department of Public Health announced that this younger group will now be eligible to receive their shots. But Hoffman and his colleague Michele Stephens, director of the country’s public health, said there was not yet enough vaccine available to disclose appointments in the group.
Hoffman and Stephens attribute the fact that different provinces in California continue at different rates, not only because of the availability of vaccine, but because the demographic and professional composition of each state differs.
‘Areas of law that are now being transferred to teachers – perhaps they have been doing Phase 1A for some time because they do not have that
[healthcare professionals], ”Stephens said in response to a question. “We do not really know the details of each country. It goes without saying that for this reason there will be some variation between provinces and jurisdictions. ‘
Hoffman soon received the vaccine against Humboldt County. Local officials have been told they will soon be receiving around 3,000 doses a week.
